A Lesson from the $HAWK Coin Crash

At Rezny Wealth Management, we’re not the type to follow social media influencers or chase the latest online trends. However, we felt the story of Hailey Welch and her failed cryptocurrency, $HAWK, was worth highlighting. It’s a perfect example of the risks we often warn investors about when it comes to speculative markets like cryptocurrency.

The tale of $HAWK shows why we don’t believe in crypto—it’s risky, unpredictable, and runs on hype instead of real value. Anyone can create a coin, and that’s part of the problem.

What Happened with $HAWK?

Welch, known for going viral on the social media platform Tik-Tok and Instagram, created $HAWK as a "fun way" for her fans to get involved. At first, the coin took off, reaching a $490 million value in just hours. But then, the value dropped by over 90%, leaving investors angry and accusing Welch of scamming them.

Blockchain experts found that a few insiders controlled most of the coin. One wallet, for example, bought a large share for $993,000 and sold it for $1.3 million just 90 minutes later, making huge profits while regular investors lost money.

Welch denied doing anything wrong and said her own tokens were locked to prevent her from selling them. But many people believe the coin was set up to benefit a small group at the expense of everyone else.

Why Rezny Wealth Management Doesn’t Recommend Crypto

At Rezny Wealth Management, we avoid cryptocurrency because it’s not based on solid factors like company earnings or long-term growth. Crypto relies on hype and trends, and stories like $HAWK prove how risky that can be.

Meme coins like $HAWK often rise quickly and fall just as fast. Welch’s coin is just the latest example of how these “get-rich-quick” schemes often leave investors with big losses.

Crypto Is Like Gambling

Cryptocurrency isn’t really an investment—it’s more like gambling. It’s been through several cycles where people get excited, invest heavily, and then lose money when the bubble bursts. The $HAWK crash is just the latest example of this pattern.
